FAQs
What ages is Junior Martial Arts for?
Our Junior Martial Arts program is designed for children ages 7–12. Training combines martial arts instruction with opportunities to develop confidence, focus, discipline, self-control, responsibility, and perseverance.
Does my child need to complete Shadow Moogi first?
No. Children can begin Junior Martial Arts without previous Shadow Moogi or martial arts experience. Students who graduate from Shadow Moogi will recognize the continuing Dragon Squad journey, while new students are welcomed and introduced to the program from the beginning.
What is Dragon Squad?
Dragon Squad is GTMA's elementary-age martial arts program and the next stage in the journey after Shadow Moogi. The familiar dragons grow along with the students as training introduces more complex physical skills and more in-depth life lessons.
Does my child need any martial arts experience?
Not at all. Beginners are welcome. Our instructors introduce students to the fundamentals and help them progress according to their age, experience, and ability.
What if my child isn't very athletic?
That's okay. Children begin martial arts with different abilities and experience levels. Training gives students opportunities to gradually improve coordination, balance, strength, flexibility, endurance, and overall physical confidence.
Will my child learn how to defend themselves?
Students develop martial arts skills while also learning awareness, self-control, confidence, respect, and responsible decision-making. The goal isn't to encourage fighting. It's to help children become more capable and confident while understanding the responsibility that comes with their skills.
What happens after the trial?
We'll talk with you and your child about their experience, answer your questions, and explain the available program options and next steps if you'd like to continue.
